To celebrate MLB Rookie phenom Stephen Strasburg’s major league debut last night, The Topps Company, Inc., the exclusive producer of Major League Baseball trading cards, has announced that Strasburg’s first ever MLB rookie card is now available exclusively online via www.ToppsMillion.com.
In an effort to capture this special moment in a timely fashion and give sports fans around the world an opportunity to collect this treasured card, during Strasburg’s very first MLB game on June 8, collectors visiting www.ToppsMillion.com with a code card found in Topps Series 1 or Topps Series 2 baseball will have a chance to unlock this special card. Strasburg’s Topps rookie card contains the photo of his very first pitch in the Major Leagues and will be issued in very limited quantities.
“Topps has a long history of creating memorable and valuable cards featuring the games great rookie stars, from Mickey Mantle to Nolan Ryan to Cal Ripken, Jr. to Albert Pujols. We expect Stephen Strasburg’s rookie card to follow in similar fashion,” said Warren Friss, Topps GM of Sports & Entertainment. ”Our enormously successful online Million Card Giveaway provides us a unique platform to capture and deliver Stephen’s first MLB rookie card in an unprecedented and incredibly timely fashion. Before Stephen even hit the showers last night, his card was already owned by at least one lucky collector.”
Last year Topps announced an exclusive multi-year deal with Strasburg granting Topps exclusive rights for autographed cards, game-used memorabilia cards and the use of Strasburg’s image on packaging and advertising. Topps will also offer a limited edition line of autographed memorabilia items.
In addition, Strasburg rookie cards will appear in the remainder of Topps 2010 baseball products starting with the release of Topps Allen & Ginter Baseball.
Topps is the first exclusive baseball card company of Major League Baseball in nearly 30 years. The company looks to expand its ongoing efforts to invigorate the category, continue launching ground-breaking products, improve the retail and collecting experience and make cards more relevant to children and young adults.

The first-ever Maloof Money Cup New York presented by Vans and airing live on FUEL TV, is almost here. Next weekend, June 5-6, the biggest names in street skateboarding will descend on Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens, to compete in the world’s greatest skateboarding event for $250,000 in cash and prizes. In addition to the Volcom Street Pro and the World Industries Amateur Championship, the world’s top pro skaters will also compete in the Tech Deck “Best Trick” contest for their shot at a $10,000 cash prize.
Skateboarding fans will also have access to the 50,000-square-foot Festival Village featuring top local and nationally acclaimed musicians, autograph signings with pro-skaters, merchandise and food vendors, and skateboarding activities for all ages.
Tickets for the MMC NY contest are free, but they are going fast, with only a few more giveaway opportunities for fans. Go to maloofmoneycup.com for the schedule of upcoming giveaways. While tickets are necessary to get into the skate competition, the Festival Village is free and no ticket is required for entry.
“This is truly a special event; we realized this when we held our first ticket giveaway and kids lined up around the block, camped overnight and waited more than 15 hours in the rain,” said MMC Creator Joe Maloof. “There is a real excitement in the air. I’m certain a big part of that is because word has spread that the street course we’re building for the contest is being donated to the City of NY as a permanent new skatepark for the community. We’re so grateful to Vans and to the NYC Parks & Recreation Department for making the donation of the skatepark possible. It’s going to be a tremendous contest and I hope to see everyone out in Flushing Meadows next weekend.”

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA), which is celebrating its 100th Anniversary, will unveil a special-edition IndyCar entry at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Sunday’s running of the Indy 500. The anniversary–themed No. 19 car is a commemorative gold and white.
“This is amazing to be a part of history,” driver Alex Lloyd said. “In my wildest dreams, I would never have imagined from when I was a Scout in England 15 years ago that I would be driving the Boy Scouts of America IndyCar, let alone during the BSA’s 100th Anniversary.”
In January, the BSA and Dale Coyne Racing announced a new alliance focused on advancing youth leadership and education. As part of this alliance, DCR is fielding the BSA’s No. 19 IndyCar through the entire IZOD IndyCar Series season.
“To have two legendary organizations—Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Boy Scouts of America—celebrate our first 100 years with the No. 19 BSA car in the Indy 500 is a dream come true for our entire membership—past, present, and future,” BSA Chief Scout Executive Robert Mazzuca said.
Team owner Dale Coyne is also humbled to be part of it. “It is a true honor to represent the more than 100 million Scouts who have been members of the BSA since its inception back in 1910,” he said. “It is inestimable the contributions that they have made to our country.”
